C5 Junior Management (Upper)

Main purpose of role:              

To present strategic recommendations

Key responsibilities:   

  • Development of strategic plans which inform and guide the overall brand communications brief
  • Develop brand strategy into an integrated/Digital experience
  • Strong ability for unearthing insights
  • Look beyond the category (sector of the client) to identify issues
  • Work closely with the anthropologists and Senior strat (and team)
  • Gathering key data that ensures considered and well-crafted strategies are constructed.
  • Writing clear briefs that result in exceptional work
  • Analysing clients identify opportunities to stimulate growth
  • The ability to understand the needs of consumers and target audiences
  • Understand that creative output should deliver a multi-dimensional experience
  • To have an understanding of all internal activities which ultimately result in delivery to client
  • To assist in solving problems, drafting internal and external communications
  • Administrative tasks such as weekly status
  • Support of all stakeholders across CoEs in the business
  • Supporting Junior Strat, Anthropologists and Senior Strats on projects from inception to completion under their guidance
  • You are required to develop an understanding of the full range of services Demographica offers and be able to work with Centre of Excellence to learn and grow

Additional area of focus:         

  • Intimate knowledge of your client always thinking of ways to enhance their brand and drive ROI to their business
  • Exposure to project briefs, budgets and monthly billings
  • Understanding of the B2B production process across all communication channels including print, digital, mobile, activations and DM
  • Participating in briefing and brainstorming sessions

Expected at this level:            

  • Demonstrate the critical ability to take information, convert to deep insight and prepare briefs that will inspire creative teams.
  • While rigour and logic are required around the planning process, also constructively challenge not only the internal teams but also the clients/client thinking.
  • Understanding timing plans and ensuring no deadlines are missed
  • Implement direction set the client brief/Strat Comms direction
  • Solid ability to interpret project and design briefs
  • Understand how to manage integration between various agencies working on the client’s account

Specific to Demographica       

  • Workbook tasks
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of the production process (timing and execution) and costs in order to maximise agency profitability and client budgets, and understand deadlines and support to ensure timeous delivery of projects
  • Involvement in “pitches” alongside other agency staff in order to win new business for the agency
  • Understanding of client budgets, including profitability, knowledge of targets as well as internal team financial accountability
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and expertise across client and internal projects.

Day-to-Day expectation:         

  • Development of strategic plans which inform and guide the overall brand communications brief
  • Support team to enable execution of deliverables to manage day-to-day activities relating to the brief/client expectation
  • Working with Senior strats develop and manage the strategic direction of the campaign/client.
  • Develop (and support) integrated marketing strategies and tactical plans to meet and exceed clients’ marketing and business goals and objectives.
  • Generate and drive insights for client with Anthropologists
  • Ensure regular communication with colleagues
  • Solid understanding of client brand and an eye for detail in terms of standard of completion of projects
  • Grow agency proprietary research tools in line with business objectives.
  • Design, execute and oversee research pieces wth Anthropologists and Senior strats
  • Manage measurement, analytics, data gathering, and reporting for clients and the agency.
  • Along with the strategy team, to drivea culture of excellence through agency training and skills development.

Ownership of role/Going beyond

  • Ensure thorough knowledge of Demographica business.

  • Develop and implement new processes to increase efficiencies and effectiveness of research, measurement, and strategy work for teams.
  • Lead research/insights gathering initiatives and manage outside agency partners.
  • Identify and propose new opportunities to add value to existing clients.
  • Support and development of junior staff on the strategy team.
  • Exposure to relevant client contract and relevant legal/regulatory guidelines
  • Work with all departments to provide feedback to support and improve agency operations and delivery on all accounts
  • Adhere to and ensure adherence to company performance and behaviour expectations e.g. timekeeping, timeous completion of timesheets, Company Policies and Procedures etc.

      Minimum Requirements:

      • An industry relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications or Advertising
      • Alternatively, you have a business Degree or Tertiary Diploma
      • Minimum 3yrs experience working in a Strat role or Strategically strong environment working as a Junior Strat

      Experience

      • An industry relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications or Advertising
      • Alternatively, you have a business Degree or Tertiary Diploma
      • Minimum 3yrs experience working in a Strat role or Strategically strong environment working as a Junior Strat
      • Understanding of the relevant structures and processes in the agency
      • Experience working in Marketing or Comms role within a B2B environment

      • Excellent computer skills
      • Confident communication skills – always ensuring timeous response to written communication for internal and external stakeholders (including emails, meeting requests/calendar invites, text or WhatsApp messages, phone calls & voicemail)
        • Promptly raising any concern around communication excessively outside of acceptable hours of communication or unreasonably cutting into personal/family time so that this can be addressed, and reasonable measures agreed upon
      • Computer literate and proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, (ideally proficient on both Apple and PC, but certainly one)
